2026-27 Student Art Show
"Bravuras of Birds" Submission Form
-deadline for all submissions is 11/1-
Thank you for your interest in submitting artwork to the Walter Anderson Musuem of Art’s juried Student Art Show that will take place in the Ocean Springs Community Center December 18, 2026 – January 3, 2027.
This year’s theme, Bravuras of Birds, is inspired by poet Walt Whitman’s Song of Myself. Whitman, a poet beloved by Walter Anderson, uses the phrase to evoke bold, dazzling, and expressive bird calls—sounds that rise above the ordinary with beauty, strength, and individuality.
Students are encouraged to explore the world of birds as symbols of voice, freedom, and imagination. What does it mean to sing your own song? To be vivid, powerful, or heard?
We welcome original submissions in any visual art medium as well as original works of poetry. K–12 students may submit up to two works of art or poetry. Please submit 1 form per student.
Selected works will be exhibited at the Ocean Springs Community Center, celebrating the creativity and unique perspectives of young artists across our community. Senior-level submissions will be considered for the Senior Art Award*, which will be presented at the exhibition reception on January 3, 2027.
*This award is generously sponsored by our friends at the Merchants & Marine Bank.
